Speyside is home to more distilleries than anywhere else in Scotland, including Scotland’s biggest distilleries, some of its best known and some of its best liked. Braes of Glenlivet - now known as Braeval - is regrettably rarely seen bottled as a single malt, normally being used instead as a component in blends. Luckily though we’ve managed to track down this amazing release as it is quietly one of the best whiskies to come out of that part of the world.

Situated right in the heart of Pitlochry, Blair Athol is one of Scotland’s most visited distilleries. Known for a rich, malty character of spirit, Blair Athol shows especially well in sherry casks. This example has spent its full thirty one years in a sherry hogshead, the rich and fruity notes form the cask complimenting Blair Athol’s already exceptional spirit.

Adelphi has been at the forefront of independent bottling for thirty years. Known for selecting some of the best casks on offer and ageing them to perfection, this Mortlach is no exception. Known for a hefty, meaty spirit, Mortlach is well tempered by time in oak - in this case a refill bourbon hogshead letting the spirit shine through even after thirty six years. Lots of stone fruit and minerality on the palate and a finish the seems to last for days. This is one of only one hundred and seventy six bottles ever produced so get it while you can.

Springbank is now one of Scotland’s most sought after distilleries. With even the younger expressions becoming harder and harder to come by, we’re very fortunate to have procured this very old and rare release. Still lively for its thirty years in cask, plenty of light fruits abound on the nose with a lingering hint of the earthiness Springbank is so well known for. This is very much a bucket list dram.

A distillery exclusive bottling, one of our agents found themselves on Skye and procured this bottle for us - the only place one is able to do so. Talisker seems to just get better with age, and in this release all of the light smoke and maritime notes the distillery is known for have just developed exceptionally well with time. This is one of those drams that you'd expect to be delicious - and you'd be right.

An absolute workhorse distillery, there are arguably more bottlings of Caol Ila on the market than any other distillery in Scotland. Fortunately, the distillery’s consistency in quality means that all of them are reliable, and this official bottling at age is no different. Caol Ila’s lightly peated style mellows over time, with some dark fruits, berries and a touch of citrus coming through.
