The George Hotel is a family owned freehouse and includes The First House of Inveraray and The Garden Bar on Loch Fyne.
The George is an active part of the Inveraray community. We love to support local groups, organisations, sports and events and we proudly sponsor Inveraray Shinty Club, Inveraray Golf Club, Inveraray Highland Games and The World Caber Tossing Championships.
Our Location
The George is nestled perfectly between the banks of Loch Fyne and the main street of The Royal Burgh of Inveraray.
Inveraray is a wonderful example of a Scottish coastal town, beautifully situated on the West Coast of Scotland. It was the very first planned town in Scotland and is a grade A conservation town full of beautifully preserved black and white Georgian architecture.

Our Buildings
The George Hotel was completed in 1776 and is on Inveraray Main Street. Our First House was the first house built in New Inveraray in 1751 and overlooks Loch Fyne.
Both are Grade A listed buildings.
Highly Awarded
The George Hotel has been the recipient of multiple, notable awards over the years - most recently being award National Winner for Whisky Bar of the Year for 2022 at the SLTN (Scottish Licensed Trade News) industry awards.

"Wonderful Hotel — Our Favorite on Our Trip"
We stayed at five hotels (two in London and three in Scotland) on our trip to the UK, and this was our favorite.
It is old-fashioned yet super comfortable. From checkin to checkout, all the staff members were amazing, including the bar and restaurant staff - shoutout to Sean who’s only been there 12 weeks but is wonderfully friendly and chatty and even dances well ;) .
The scallops at the restaurant were to die for! The free full Scottish breakfast included eggs, bacon, haggis, potato (like hashbrown), and blood sausage as well as drinks like juice, tea, cappuccinos, etc.
The beds were super comfortable, and I think I had a down comforter. The shampoo and conditioner actually nourished my hair and left it soft (very uncommon for hotel conditioners especially). When we stepped out of the shower, we noticed robes and slippers too.
The location was great also. You can walk to almost anywhere in Inveraray, and the Inveraray jail is right next door. I can’t say enough good things about this place.
